At Farwell’s, we do the hard work so that you don’t have too. Whilst you do not need to apply for a permit if your skip is being placed on private land (such as your driveway), a licence is required when using a public highway or pavement. Here to make your life simpler, our organised team can arrange a skip hire permit on your behalf through your local authority. Please note, however, that this can take anything up to 7 days to process and obtain, so remember to schedule this into your planning.

Not all situations require a skip. In some circumstances a wait and load lorry service can save you time, money and multiple trips to the skip. If space is of the essence or access restricted, when you place all your waste in one place, we will collect, load and dispose of it for you. So why not let someone else take the strain and book Farwell’s wait and load lorry service instead?

southbourne GRAB LORRY HIRE

Taking care of it all, our grab hire lorries offer the perfect solution for the fast removal of your waste and are a low-cost alternative to other methods. Available to both commercial and residential customers, contact Farwell’s for more information.

Living in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is important to us that we carefully consider the way in which we dispose of your waste. We are a fully-licensed and registered waste carrier, dedicated to ensuring that your rubbish is recycled and reused as much as possible, with the rest being disposed of in a responsible manner. At our own sorting plant, we aim to divide your contents into piles of wood, plastic, metal, furniture, soil and rubbish, minimising the amount going to landfill. Our knowledgeable staff can discuss in advance what can be placed in your skip and provide alternative options of disposing any items that can’t. Together we can achieve sustainable solutions for both commercial and office waste – we only have one planet afterall.

Southbourne is a lively, coastal suburb of Bournemouth, close to the charming market town of Christchurch. Here you will find the bustling streets packed with eclectic shops, buzzing bars and chilled-out cafes. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely walk along the stunning sea shore, pedal along the pretty promenade, eat a fish and chip supper on the beach or fly a kite off the cliffs of Hengistbury Head.

Southbourne’s main attraction, however, is its stunning Blue Flag beach. Whether you want to paddle in the surf, sink your feet into sugar soft sand or spend time building sandcastles, the heady mix of panoramic ocean views and fresh sea air offers the perfect escapism.

There are plenty of places to explore from Southbourne, including Fisherman’s Walk. This picturesque path follows the cliff tops through flora and fauna right down to the beach, and if you don’t fancy a stroll, jump on board the cliff lifts for a more unusual journey. If you have a head for heights, further east you can venture to the top of Hengistbury Head. Here you can wander through heathland, grassland and wetland enjoying stunning views of the Isle of Wight and Purbeck Coastline.

When disposing of your waste in one of ours skips, you should always consider what you are putting in it. There are certain items which are restricted. Usually, these items can be taken to the local household waste recycling centre, however a charge maybe incurred. Restricted items include:

We are a fully-licensed and registered waste carrier, so you can rest assured that your waste will be collected and disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly way. We recycle wood, plastic, metal, furniture, soil and rubble wherever possible, and often incinerate waste for energy creation.

If you’re unsure about what size of skip you may require or need advice on what you can put in it please take a look at our FAQ’s below:
Generally, you can hire one of our skips for 1 – 2 weeks but we can accommodate longer hiring periods depending on your individual requirements. Please remember that if you’re placing your skip on a public highway you will need us to arrange a permit for you. As we are fully licensed and registered waste carriers with the council we can do this on your behalf.
We recommend booking your skip in advance as we may need to apply for a permit. If the skip is going on private property we can sometimes provide same day or next day delivery, depending on availability and time of booking. We can provide you with an AM or PM slot and someone will need to be in to accept delivery.
If placing the skip on a public road then you will need a permit. We need up to 7 days to arrange this from the local authority. Most skip hire permits are valid for up to 2 weeks but can be extended for an additional cost.
When filling your skip, you should be mindful of what you are putting in it as there are certain items which you can’t put in it. This includes food and animal waste, liquids, electrical goods (TV’s fridges etc), plasterboard, asbestos, batteries, tins of paint, tyres, medical waste, gas cylinders, solvents and fuels. You can dispose of soil and rubble in our skips but we need to be notified at time of booking due to the weight.
