Have you ever wondered what Hiab actually stands for? The term Hiab is actually an abbreviation of a Swedish company founded in 1944 called Hydrauliska Industri AB (Hiab). Their founder invented a way to utilise a trucks engine to power loader cranes through the use of hydraulics. These days Hiab lorry mounted cranes can be found in use across the world and have a huge variety of uses. Hiab cranes can often save the use of a forklift truck and other methods of lifting machinery or oversized loads, helping to save money in the process.
